Falling for Fall at the Bainbridge Island Farmers Market

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” ~ George Eliot

Bainbridge Island has been having a record-breaking dry spell this fall, so some people are starting to go beeezerk I thought I’d show you some of this pretty fall at the farmers market. Flowers are still going nuts.
This is elephant head amaranth. Who doesn’t love a fuschia trunk and no, that doesn’t remind me of anything? I’m told birds love the seeds as the flower blooms dry up. Honestly, I’ve been nagging myself to get back to eating more vegetables, and usually I’d make soups this time of year to do that. However, these sunny days and my lazy, expanding butt don’t exactly encourage it…

Today or definitely tomorrow…! I will make vegetable soup!
Here’s some root veggies now, just waiting for me…
And the market always has some new kind of veggie to experiment with. I’m still not sure what we’re doing with these, but the Hubs got some… Have you tried them? These we know exactly what to do with!
Doesn’t this kind of fall put a smile on your face?
