Kids’ Birthday Parties and Other Discomforts

Well, we feed her and the Kid keeps growing and I keep aging.

Last week, she turned 9.

Her request for party theme this year (did I ever have a party with a theme??) was mani/pedi.

Can this be a theme, you ask. Apparently, yes.

And this theme came with lots ‘o opinions from the girls on what would be going on the nails, patterns, shapes, images, 3D holograms, you name it.

Unfortunately, for them I had brothers and really don’t give a crap about painted nails have not spent much time painting nails.

If you thought a single, plain color on a finger would suffice, you’d be mocked ceaselessly by high voices and eye-rolling wrong.

But they had a good time. Fingers, toes, hair and faces were colored in some form or fashion.
And they got cupcakes. What’s not to like?

Maybe next year’s theme can be silent meditation?

I know. *rolls eyes*

Have you thrown any kid parties you weren’t comfortable with?

  1. Our younger grandsons turn 10 today. No surprise: mani/pedi did not come up at all. Great photo, by the way. Sorry you didn’t have a photo of the sparrow on the last one.
