sweet and salty…and bacony?

I was visiting the local market the other day and happened upon this little treasure:
bacon chocolate bar
Now, I’m a chocolate fan and I’m a bacon fan (crispy, please), but Madison Avenue, I don’t think these two guys need to be joined in holy packaging.

And is there such a thing in this world as “Dark Bacon“?? Or is there a “Milk Bacon Bar,” too (excuse me while I hurl)??

What ever happened to chocolate itself being good enough? Chocolate alone is worthy. Don’t give it a complex. It doesn’t need an 8-member choir at its concert. Holy Toledo, it can solo, it can connect to the crowd alone, it can courageously show its sensitive side to the women and the girls (no, I haven’t been watching American Idol, *ahem*…).

Come on, are ya with me? Or are you on the current bacon wagon train?

And don’t ask the dog.

  1. dark bacon? that confuses me a lot.
.-= furiousball´s last blog ..I’m only sorry that it took so long to figure out =-.

  2. Forget chocolate. How can they sully the goodness that is bacon?! Are they insane?

  3. If you call me a purist, you’d be right. Definitely keep these two separate! Same goes for the chocolate + jalapeno bar, and any other ridiculous type of “contaminate.” One exception — nuts. So, maybe not an extreme purist….

  4. furious, yes, some advertising person must have been a chocolate bacon stupor.

dumb, i didn’t even think about the bacon’s side of this! so true…

gl, oh, that spicy chocolate! ugh! goes great with spicy beer! double ugh!

    Hello There!
You are welcome for a frittata anytime!
So delighted you posted your thoughts on this chocolate/bacon thing!
Last time my neighbors/California friends were in town they stopped off at their favorite chocolate shoppe in Seattle!
They picked me up some of this chocolate/bacon candy!
I just could not wrap my sweet loving mind around this concept!
    I did hesitantly give it a try…
    and cringed at the taste!
I gladly passed it back to their chocolate loving souls to enjoy on their way back to California!
    I’m with you…
why mess with a good thing!
Now I am liking that wee -bit of sea salt on some of my chocolate…I even sprinkled a bit of sea salt on some fudge I made..but NOT on every piece!
Give me some milk chocolate…and some pecans….and I’m in heaven!
    xo

  6. yes, teresa, i see more and more of the sea salt/choc combo. i would rather have a separate salty something, then the chocolate, but who’s to say combining isn’t tasty and efficient of us!
