The thing about the fairy books cracked me up. I also am an aspiring author and am continuously dumbfounded by some of the books I've seen/read/put back on the shelf shaking my head. Read Candice Bushnell's "Trading Up" sometime. Ugh. Once, a random commenter on my blog told me to just keep writing because a professor once told him "Most of the stuff on shelves is crap anyway." I wasn't sure if that was a diss or a compliment or encouragement or what. When I got home to post it I noticed that out of about 60 seconds of recording he is picking his nose in about 40.
