I give you Exhibit A, the Manpri pants.
I saw a guy here wearing these and couldn’t quite decide (NO, I didn’t take his picture. What would a man in manpris do to you if you took his picture? Karate chop? Scratch your eyes out? It’s a wild card.).
A few years ago I realized the Pacific Northwest has the perfect weather for this type of pant, sunny but cool. But this style on a guy?
Why, oh, why would a guy wear these? Maybe for the same reason as me? I mean, this guy had the hairiest legs ever.
Please take my survey, reader. Me and my pigeon want to know your thoughts.
(Like the gratuitous pigeon shot? He was in my backyard recently, devouring all our bird seed.)

So, I had to do a double-take because, you see, my hubby actually owns (and wears frequently) a very similar pair of britches. I’ve always called them cargo shorts – a bit longer than regular shorts, usually pretty baggy, lots of pockets. Old Navy always carries them every year.
Personally, I like them. I can’t stand the up-your-butt, voluntary wedgie shorts that so many guys (and gals) wear. Blech. I really don’t need to see all that thigh, or hair. And PLEASE – don’t bend over in them. Or ride a bike. Geesh!
I don’t know that I’ve really seen this around too much. But I have to admit I saw my exhusband in them after we were divorced and I thought they were hott. Plus, I was proud of him for being confident enough to pull them off.
So yeah, I voted that I like them! So sue me.
I like ‘em, but I’ve always had a “thing” for Gilligan
I used to despise them. But they’re growing on me.
I like them. Why not give men a few more options.
My hubby’s cargo shorts all look like this … he has short legs too which makes them even a bit longer.
I don’t think these are long enough to be counted as manpris. I’m with the “these look like the cargo shorts my sweetie wears” group. I like this look. (goodness knows I have to as he wear them year round!)
What I consider to be manpris comes to mid-calf…and looks a bit silly!
Wait, how are these different than long shorts? Are they past the knee?
I think of these as cargo shorts as well. My sons wear shorts this long all the time. Although, as it hapens, when I say I’m wearing capris, this is the length I wear – just barely below my knee. I don’t like the mid-calf to just above the ankle length on anyone – they look like you just didn’t buy your pants long enough.
(And are you saying you wear them because you have the hairiest legs ever??)
Guy shorts keep getting longer and longer. I guess it’s better than the Magnum PI days though.
So, you guys are saying long shorts are cool, but not if they’re tooooo long and more like highwater pants?
I do agree that it’s better than shorter and shorter shorts, a la Richard Simmons. I don’t need a survey for that one!
Okay a big thumbs down for this one–not pretty.

I think that might be my brother!
My brothers wear their shorts like this…and they insist that they are shorts. I just keep my mouth shut because they don’t give me a hard time about some of my fashion choices.

Oh my! I’m shocked that there are so many people who think these are hawt!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO! I think there is a clear distinction between cargo shorts and manpris!
The guys on that kid’s show, Hi-5, wear manpris. That is an automatic reason why no MAN should wear those!

I personally would not wear cargo shorts at or below the knee. Most men I know would mock any man who did. It just looks like either a) he doesn’t know how to shop for himself; or b) his wife doesn’t know how to shop for him, and he’s too wussy to tell her she blew it. The really baggy shorts below the knee look like gauchos (remember those, those of you who were alive in the 1970s?), and that’s just not at all a masculine look. To me, anyway.
Then again, I’m nobody’s idea of a sharp dresser. Not even my own.
