[UPDATED] they grow up so fast — those thrushes

Since one or two of you said “Nice shots, Wendy! You’re the best! I couldn’t make out ANYTHING in those nest shot of yours,” here’s one more picture of those two Swainson’s thrush babies.

No, they haven’t flown the coop nest yet, but I’m guessing tomorrow might be The Day given how they’ve been s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g their wings out and looking around after mom flies off.

Their fledging (is that a word, Birdchick?) will be perfect timing for more worry in our household since Kid has now named them “Junior” and “Cutie.”

Don’t ask me which is which.

Does one look more Junior-ish? More Cutie-ish?

Well, it was bound to happen. Here’s what we saw this morning when we peeked at the nest:

I’m a little sad. I can hear their little thoip’s around the yard, though.

(Guess this is practice for the Empty Nest syndrome that will be here in another 12 or 13 years…..)
