bedtime prayers

Some say their prayers as they go to sleep. I say mine as Kid goes to sleep.

“Thank God, she’s finally closed her mouth!”

“Thank God, she’s not moving!”

Sometimes, “Thank you, God, for this amazing, beautiful child…” or words to that effort.

As much to convince myself as to remind myself. So I don’t just rip her little head off her body late one afternoon.

Last night, I’m thinking my Good Thoughts while standing bedside, holding Kid’s hand. I’m trying to relax, take a breath and remember to appreciate her.

[Rather than think of what's waiting on Tivo. DID Project Runway's new season start up yet??]

While I’m saying my prayers to myself, she holds my hand close to her face and

. . . . starts LICKING MY FINGERS.

Like a dog.

Ick. A real gratitude-buzz-kill.

  1. ROFLMAO! Mine still gets in the occasional lick. For some reason, she thinks its HYSTERICAL to lick my face, or, even better, my glasses when I have them on at night.

    Little punk.

  2. …the joys of motherhood.

PR starts soon. Shear Genius 2 started.

  3. Yep, I’ve had my fingers licked by my kids. It just goes with the territory. Not sure why.
