Once my sister got a praying mantis egg cocoon (or whatever they’re called) and put it in a jar. Eventually it hatched and there were hundreds of tiny praying mantises. It was fascinating at first, but then it just degenerated into an orgy of cannibalism.

Ummmm . . . just so you know - baby spiders grow up to be BIG spiders. Big spiders that creep into your house in the middle of the night, and hide inside your shoes, or under your bed . . .
Night Night.
Sleep tight.

I wonder what “orgy of cannibalism” is going to do to your search stats Wendy?
What’s surprising to me is this must mean Earl has not fired up the BBQ in a long while?? Shocking.

Will, he’s been using his corner of the deck. Ribs, most recently….yum. Somehow mama spider was undaunted.

Brooke, have you been talking to my mother? I was always freaked out about bugs at night and she made a “bugometer” which was to show number of bugs in the room. Which was always set on zero.

I love spiders. They eat insects. And I hate insects. So spiders are OK.
I guess I’m saying that I WOULD love a BBQ on your deck. (But too many spiders would be bad …)

Not to worry, they’ll scatter to the winds. All except a couple to nab the flies for you. It’s not a bad system.

yeah, I’m hoping they’ll start going after all these bugs around here! get to work! we need more owls, too, by the way. they appear to be slacking off, judging from the rodents….
