Learn-A-Word Wednesday: busker \BUS-kur\
noun:
A person who entertains (as by playing music) in public places.. . .a busker who simultaneously plays the drums, cymbals, bells and a mouth organ.
— Murray Bail, Homesickness: A NovelBusker is from busk, “to seek to entertain by singing and dancing,” probably from Spanish buscar, “to seek.”
I have a busker on my hands.
She has these boots:

Apparently, there is no way to walk quietly in them. If I hadn’t looked for myself, I would swear they have taps on the bottoms.
She kicks, prances, twirls, stomps, skips, a regular Savion Glover.
My busker has only gotten more showy since all passers-by praise these boots.
After all the IlikeyourbootsThosearecutebootsHicowgirlWhere’dyougetyourbootsThosearecool!, she’s never wearing any other shoes. Her feet will be forever triangle shaped.
If she’s going to keep at it, maybe she could carry a tip jar?
Do you have a busker? What are their talents?

Boy, do I have a busker at my house!? Not only do we have a pair of Hot Pink cowgirl boots (which flash star-shaped lights with every step), we also have . . .um . . . 3 trillion tutus/princess gowns/cheerleader outfits. These are usually worn in some combination of mismatch. Often (to my chagrin) in public.
Yes, we are that weird family that people roll their eyes at and wonder, “Why doesn’t that mother control her child and make her dress properly in public.” If only they had seen the battle that raged just to get the outfit toned DOWN to just a Cinderalla dress, 3 gaudy necklaces and a pair of Hot Pink boots.
Did I mention she also plays an accordian? Oh yeah, she’s a busker.

I passed by a busker today in the subway (I’m in NYC). I see her often. She plays a musical saw and a sign advertises her website: http://www.sawlady.com/blog
She doesn’t wear boots… but she wears cool black gloves with spiky silvery pieces on them

Hey, those boots look just my size. Ask the busker if I can borrow them.
