Good question, Wendy.  We had these birds in our gravel driveway &quot;eating&quot; gravel for years.  We never gave much thought to them.  But, we could frequently hear their mourning cooing call.

Hunters shoot only &quot;doves&quot; in Texas, and one never hears about hunting &quot;pigeons.&quot;   I learned that basically, a dove is a smaller pigeon and there are hundreds of dove species.</description>
