pestiferous \pes-TIF-uh-ruhs\
adjective:
1. Bearing or bringing disease.
2. Infected with or contaminated by a pestilential disease.
3. Morally evil or dangerous to society; pernicious.
4. Bothersome; troublesome; annoying.Pestiferous is from Latin pestifer, “pestilential,” from pestis, “pestilence,” + -fer, “bearing.”
No, I did not make this word up, but it does sound like something Willy Wonka would say.
And what is pestiferous to me this week?
These little muddafudda’s–
Oh? You haven’t had the pleasure?
These are alder buds, full of my nemesis, TREE POLLEN. Which apparently flourishes here and now.
They have squeezed my eyes and nose in a vice grip for the past week. My throat is dry from my constant gasping through it.
Nostrils? Wherefore you must tease me so? Open one moment, only to close the next.
Don’t you love spring?
Are you breathing through your nose or mouth these days? (aren’t I SO pestiferous to ask such a question?)

But those buds are pretty anyway. (And I truly do love spring.)

I’m with you. They should sell Claritin in a huge salt-lick size at Costco or someplace. I’m less productive at work because I sneeze 47 times a shift and have to get up and use hand sanitizer every damn time.
