young love? I’ll pass.

Kid explained a recent problem at preschool with her good buddy, Jill (age 4).*

Jill is Sam’s girlfriend now and I don’t like it.

What does that mean, to be a girlfriend?

young-love-print-c10054982.jpgWell, Sam falled in love with Jill and Jill falled in love with him. And now she’s his girlfriend.

And what does that mean?

It means you have to sit together all day long. And not play with anyone else. All day.

Oh.

Too bad for them.

[*not their real names.]

  1. Poor kid. Dumped already and he’s only four. But he has a ways to go before he catches up to me.

  2. Oh, I must clarify! My Kid is jealous of her girlfriend, Jill!

Who only plays with a BOY now and not her! Ick! Cooties!

  3. Reminds me of some adults I’ve known who act that same way. After they’re married for a while, at least one of the parties no longer calls it “love.”

Oh, to be at the very beginning of being bitten by the “love bug!” Actually, no thanks!! Too much to learn.

  4. ROFL! Out of the mouths of babes comes the truth of the matter.

  5. Yes, she did kind of nail it, in a blunt 4 year old way. That’s what shocked me. I think I probably acted this way on more than one occasion, I’m embarrassed to admit….

  6. It’s the not getting to play with anyone else that really bites.

  7. Yeah, for ever and ever, too…..that’s a looooonnnng time.
