Is it finders keepers if you find a. . . . dog?

My mom sent me this article about Scooter, the 1 1/2 year old pug who escaped from home and got picked up by another family who then wrote a letter to the owner of Scooter informing her that he was safe, warm and cared for by her daughter
….and not coming back!

Oh, and they included $20 with the letter.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??

Now, I have met some nice pugs, playful and all (and Scooter looks swell), but they are no golden and certainly no griffon. Plus, they have that snort thing going on. I mean, that is where the term “pug-nose” comes from, right?

I’m mostly kidding on the dog superiority. I just cannot believe someone would not only keep the dog, but write a letter to boot.

What do you guys think? Keeping=good? Bad? Letter=good? Bad? $20=good? Bad?

I just keep thinking: NOSHEDIN’T!!!

  1. People are so strange. Did they want to rub it in or something?!

  2. It’s just so odd. Maybe they wanted the owner to know the dog wasn’t dead, but then to keep him?? Huh?

  3. I’m pretty sure that can be considered theft. Because the dog is property and if the finders obviously knew who the property belonged to, they have an obligation to return it.

I could be way off base, but the original “owners” may have a case if they really wanted to push it.

But you’re right…who the heck wants a nasty, stinky, snorty, football-sized pug anyway? Ick.
