Christmas crumbles
Good name for a Christmas treat, eh? Unfortunately, that is not what crumbled.
See, we have a special Advent calendar that a friend of DH’s made in Alaska. Cute? It has three rows of pockets at the bottom there with special little ornaments.
Last year, did Kid like it? Not so much. Now that Kid is four, she is obsessed with it. Every morning, afternoon and evening, we hear, “did we put an ornament on the Christmas tree today??”
Unlike mommy who goes linearly across the rows, Kid likes to pull out the tiny ornament, inspect, evaluate for that day, return it to its pocket, and continue perusing as if she’s at the Barnes and Noble of ornaments.
Did I mention these adorable ornaments are breakable?
Thus far, the broken count (don’t tell DH) is 3/7, including the gold star for the top.
First, Kid did this on her own and I flipped out when I heard the CRACK/SPLAT/TINKLE!
Then, I said she only does it with mommy or daddy with her.
Which meant I had the joy of witnessing the dropping and the breaking.
She did not just do that. She did. Oh, holy crap, Mary and Joseph……. (see how religious I am this time of year?)
I got what I said: she only did it (break them) with mommy with her! Now, Kid points to where the ornament will go. That’s it.
With 18 days of holiday spirit to go, all I can say:
Praise the Lord and pass the Elmer’s.

Certainly the benefit of chocolate Advent calendars. When they break, you eat ‘em.

Reminds me of the homemade ornaments my mom labored on and I promptly destroyed when I was, oh, about sixish. It’s not my fault they looked like toys! Whaddya expect from a six year old!

Oh, Bossy, chocolate does have that advantage, but our dog would probably be stealing them all by Day 2….(or I’d at least blame her….).
Jeff, it’s all about letting go….I am learning….
Thanks for reading, Dawn! Stay warm!
