Learn-A-Word Wednesday: flummery \FLUHM-uh-ree\
Jump to Comments
noun:
1. A name given to various sweet dishes made with milk, eggs, flour, etc.
2. Empty compliment; unsubstantial talk or writing; mumbo jumbo; nonsense.Flummery comes from Welsh llymru, a soft, sour oatmeal food.
You may already know that I love words with double meanings where one of those meanings is food. Well, here’s another one.
I’m either gonna write flummery or eat it.
Or both.

Excellent! Flummery. I think I’ll try to work it into my blog post tomorrow. If I do, I’ll link the word to this post.

I got here from Dorky Dad (I’m not bragging, I’m just saying). Nice blog. I like the word.
