Lather, rinse, repeat — anyone do this?

Recently, I had the luck to shower alone.

Hohoho, you say, grrrrrrrrrr and meeeeooooww!!

No, it’s not that. Try a 4 year old. A water-loving one.

My point is this time I had time to think, time to read. (so here I am writing; just ask Virginia Wolff about that)

See, no one can say I am not a voracious reader. I read shampoo labels and guess what?

They don’t say “lather, rinse, repeat” anymore. Our four didn’t, anyway.

‘Sup with that? A truer money-maker I’ve never seen: use this product, not once, but TWICE!!

So, my question to you is: DO YOU? Lather, rinse, repeat, that is.

  • Who has time to repeat? Besides, if I repeat, my hair is completely unmanageable. That’s waaaaay too much conditioner for my thin, straight hair.

  • Sadly, I no longer have enough hair to justify a repeat.

  • What’s the point of repeating, anyway?

  • I don’t get the whole repeating thing, either. As I recall, for most of human history people never washed their hair. Now we’ve got to do it twice in the same shower? Ick.

  • Sometimes my kid needs to repeat a few times, but me? Naw, I figure if I didn’t get it right the first time, why the heck would I try to screw it up a second time?

  • sometimes, my dog needs to repeat a few times….. me, post-childbirth, between losing hair and pulling it out, I’m lucky to have anything to wash!

  • I’m impressed that you can still read the back of the bottles in the shower (no glasses). It dries it out to much if I wash it twice. I used to when I was younger, oiler, and with a much thicker and longer head of hair. At least as you get older you can’t see the changes as easily.

  • contact lenses!!

yea, I’m all dry and brittle now, too….

  • Damn it. Now I need to remember to read my shampoo bottles when I get home.

I usually lather . . . determine if I need more lather . . . if yes then lather some more . . . repeat these steps . . . then rinse. I’ve never repeated the whole process that I can recall.

Lather, repeat, rinse is what mine *should* say.

  • alright Will, read and report back!

I don’t get the lather, repeat deal. Must be some extra gentle, nonsudsing, organic stuff…?? Or just vinegar? Does that lather…? :-D
