Spongebob morality tale
Have you seen the Rock-a-Bye Bivalve episode? It features Spongebob and Patrick caring for a baby scallop they find. Patrick takes on the “daddy” role while SB handles baby, cooking and cleaning. SB begs for a break each night and Patrick promises him the next day will be the day. Over and over. SB’s eyes bulge as he gets more exhausted each day. After Patrick comes home from “work” (watching tv in his own house) extra late from partying, SB loses it and they fight. Just before it all seems doomed, the scallop “flies” off on his own.
Until I googled it, I had no idea this episode spawned the “Spongebob is gay” speak from the Moral Majority. Also, dads across the country were mad at how they were depicted. Hm.
I don’t really know about all that. I recorded it for DH to see it as our own little morality tale. Where Oprah failed, I thought SB could work.
Me: Look, honey. Look how tired Spongebob is.
Me: Look how Patrick is just not helping! Can you believe that?!
Me (shaking head): Poor Spongebob. No break. Poor Spongebob. Tsk, tsk.
DH: Snort! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Snort!
So…………that went well.

Seriously, he isn’t going to get it until the roles are reversed for awhile.
I knew Spongebob was gay, but I don’t care. He’s kind of a cute little gay guy.

SB is gay? He does seem exceedingly happy. Gay like that?? I just read that sponges are hermaphroditic. Can you be both?

Hmm…sledgehammer or frying pan. Whichever is handiest at the moment.
Have you ever really listened to SB laugh? He sounds like a girl. So maybe he is a hermaphrodite and is taking advantage of the best of both worlds.

Yes, that’s his work and it’s not so easy to do he said. Sometimes his butt really itches.
So, that is what I tease DH about — “….oh, yeah, you’re working so hard…..and sometimes your butt itches real bad.”
