hot times in the bee hive
You might think that if you were small, could fly and had a sharp stinger on your ass, you could pretty much do whatever you wanted.
Not so. Not if you bother our dog, Becca.
Not that the dog took revenge or anything. No, she just acted bothered enough in front her daddy, DH, and DH had to do something about those hornets. Protecting the family and all, you know.
So, after all his caregiving for Mouse 464, he tacked into another direction. Flamethrower.
He decided to introduce Senor Hornets to Senor Lamp Oil (lamp oil because we are PREPARED for The Emergency), and he torched the suckers.
Here I was minding my own business (or Kid’s business, actually), and glanced out the front window to see DH holding the hose stretched across the yard, standing by a couple of trees and a few piles of leaves (yeah, leaves, and yeah, it’s the end of summer, not fall….don’t go all holier-than-thou on me as if your yard is clean and picked up. Oh, it IS?).
Why is there a fire in my yard? I wondered. Next to all those trees and leaves??
“Because the hornets must die.”
Final score: DH: 1, Hornets: 0.

I’m glad the hornets must die. I haven’t seen any over at our house since then. DH was victorious in the Senior Hornet vs. DH match, hummm, how about SH vs. DH with DH taking the belt. It must make you proud. Now what about that spider issue? Why must they fish with nets across my front porch? When is DH going to tackle that one? An SS vs. DH match. I’ll by a ticket.

He’s lucky he didn’t get busted by the anti-leaf burning zealots! While I can burn whatever strikes my fancy out in the boonies, in town, there are strict laws against any burning, especially leaf burning. However, I think risking an ordinance violation citation was well worth the demise of those nasty, nasty hornets.
My dog just eats them. Yup, she’s a bit bizarre.

Sheri, spiders have been hit before as DH marched around with a giant metal tank and spray gun filled with some kind of Agent Orange.
Jenn, we have tons of those zealots on Bainbridge!! Only because he was “hiding” behind our high fence (he built) did he stay safe, I bet. I am impressed with your dog!! Becca could be more useful that way…
