still in party recovery…..
BUT, what’s the point of having a blog if you a) can’t rant about bad products, like this or this, and b) SHOW OFF A BIRTHDAY CAKE you lovingly made (stop the tallies; this makes me the best mommy ever, right? right?)
Ta da!
Except for the three and half days to make it, the sticky mess up to my elbows, and the screaming “stop spreading now!” and “put down the spatula!” to Kid, it was totally worth it. All 33 inches of it.
The party went well, but not without the usual spats amongst young female chimps vying for the last banana (or juice box). No one had apparently given the other partygoers the memo from Kid that she gets everything she wants when she wants it on her birthday. Oh, yeah. They can’t read.
Here she is mad during one instance:
Maybe more than the birthday girl, who scored the most? Becca, of course! And she didn’t even have to steal food directly off of plates. I mean, the children were offering those cupcakes, right? In their hands, at dog-snout level? I’m pretty sure….
Burp!

LOVE IT!! How can anyone possible “one-up” this gorgeous cake!! And, I really do like Kid’s very own original version of her time-out, too. What ever works, I say.

Ahhhh….Mommy of the week goes to Wendy!!! Slugs, cake, and a horde of sugared up 3 to 4 year olds, now you can do anything. Make sure DH gets you your supermom cape. It will come in handy for next year’s event.

Just what is that supposed to mean, Jim?? There IS someone who calls me “mommy” and this is a blog…. Are you childless blogging??

Hey, there is nothing wrong with mommy bloggers! I’m a mommy, and I blog.
Love the cake Wendy! You have far more patience than I. Unruly’s last cake was bought at ColdStone. Yeah, I’m that lazy.
So, who had the best sugar buzz…the dog, or the kids?

I think the kids showed it more, the sugar rush, although the dog gets “the zooms” and dashes around the yard like a maniac in big circles for patches of time. Possible sugar rush….

When I refer to “mommy bloggers,” I speak of women who do nothing but talk about their children as if there was absolutely nothing else going on in their lives, and no desire to have anything else in their lives. Not criticizing, just observing. But I guess there’s an audience for it, and that audience is people other than me.

Oh, no, no criticism heard………
Any reader of mine, all 4 of them, who cannot appreciate the making of a gigantic mermaid cake, well, ciao baby….
I think a lot of blogging started as a way for families spread around the country to keep in touch with each other’s activities and share photos of the kids. That was the whole point of it.
As for having nothing else in their lives….when you are a SAHM, that pretty much IS your life, 24/7, especially when kids are small. I am amazed they blog at all.
As for desiring nothing else…..desire is one thing. Time, money, energy are something else.
Maybe they could hire nannies and go fulfill their dreams so their blogging would be more interesting for the general population??
