are you emotional about emoticons? :)
The New York Times had an article this week about emoticons and their origins. Since I don’t IM, I don’t emote much. I like l.e.t.t.e.r.s.
Some people are very anti-emoticon. Who knew? It’s not like having two smirky faces glaring at you from your own deck every day.
This quote from the article illustrates a new potential for emoticons —
Amy Cohen, an author and a former dating columnist for The New York Observer, joked that she could “tell the whole story of a relationship in emoticons: Happy, happy, happy, sad, happy, sad, sad.”
That would be

,
, of course.
How was our trip to the beach the other day? :), :(, :)…….;-@, QQ! (Kid did not want to leave)
This site has some extras you just don’t see normally, such as:
$:-) Has a comb stuck in the hair
%-( Glasses broken; Sad confused; Practical joker who got beat up
&:-] Overly handsome self-portrait with square jaw
*:-} 8 8- Transvestite
See what you find over there. Use them in sentences. Enjoy!

[Fun, but I think I'm getting a neck ache.....]

$2500? Sheesh, that’s a lot of money for a blog contest. Now everybody’s going to want cash for caption contests.
I have no opinion about emoticons, other than some people have too much time on their hands.

I have a hard time keeping up with all the internet slang. I prefer plain old letters too.
