this could put new meaning in the “time out chair”
Here’s a pleasant story about air travel.
That’s a guy in a lawn chair traveling from Oregon to Idaho. He didn’t make it to Idaho, but did get up to 11,000 feet. Gulp. Someone should tell him they have roads to Idaho now.
Hmmm, a very attractive idea for that third temper tantrum of the day….you could tether it so your child wouldn’t end up in Colorado or someplace. Maybe use sky-colored balloons so the neighbors won’t rat you out? I can see it now….
“Are you going to be good now??”
“Yes, I promise, Mommy!! Can I come down now??”
With my luck, Kid would ask for more time…..which wouldn’t be all bad……
BTW, if you want a good, fun movie to watch exploring the possibilities of a man traveling this way, rent the Australian flick,
Danny Deckchair. It’s a good one. He lands in a new town and becomes a winner there, rather than the loser he was at home. Those Aussies have put out some great comedies. Anyone have some other fav’s?

I’m glad you mentioned “Danny Deckchair” … I thought I was the only one who knew of that movie. Not a great movie, but nice and light and frothy and fun. And Rhys Ifans is the great utility infielder of Aussie/Brit movies … he looks like the sort of guy who can disappear into any role and make it his own.

GREAT! Now I’m going to have that “Up, Up and Away in my Beautiful Balloon” song in my head.

Dorky Dad, stop it!! Stop it right now! I know what you are doing and you are going to get blocked from all future comments if you keep doing this!!
I’m gonna put you in a time out chair! And float you far far away!

I haven’t seen Danny Deckchair yet so I’ll have to check it out. The only aussie comedy that I could think of this early is Muriel’s Wedding.
I also should point out that the whole time I’ve been typing this, I’ve been whistling that stupid song. Thanks Dorky Dad.

I keep thinking of that “10,000 Red Balloons,” song. I guess that’s a tad bit better than the “Up, Up and Way in my Beautiful Balloon,” song.
I can’t think of ANY aussie comedies that I’ve ever seen. However, when I think comedy, I think “Dr. Who,” so I don’t know what the heck that says about me.

Thanks for stopping by, Mary! The plane ticket may be cheaper than buying all those balloons, etc….
For anyone interested, The Castle is a cute Aussie flick and also The Dish. I think I liked the Dish best of all, altho Danny Deckchair had a nice message.
