Oh, so I guess I wasn’t supposed to require the women I dated to pick up the tab … I wondered why I didn’t get many dates.

Does that REALLY happen? I mean, I’m a pretty clueless single guy … but not THAT clueless. When I was 14, I was taught the two cardinal rules of dating, and they have served me well and faithfully over my 28-year dating career:
1. When you look at her, USE YOUR PERIPHERAL VISION.
2. You ask, you pay.

Oh, good rules, Jim! And, yes, this really does happen!! The other bad version is the “dutch” one — when you didn’t know that was going to be the pay scheme. Ah, fun.
