I have a new favorite website — http://dailypuppy.com. Loaded with cuuuuuute puppy pictures, it is a perfect mood lifter. And educational. Who knew there is such a thing as a goldendoodle? This critter is a Karelian bear dog, yes, a dog for bear hunters. Little tough guy. Check this site out on those crappy days. Almost makes me consider a second dog…..

Where did you find this pup? I adopted a puppy at the Humane Soceity back in Late March and have been trying to figure out what she is for the longest time. They told me a mix with a Border Collie. My daughter brought home this book called BEAR DOGS and I couldn’t believe the same features our new puppy has and I believe she is a pure bred Karelian Bear Dog. The Humane Soceity had found two female puppies in March in Poulsbo near Liberty Bay Auto and they both ran under a parked car. I was unsure if there was a breeder in the area because I would love to get more information about this breed. If you can be of any assistance. Please feel free to email me at the email above or call my cell phone at 360-689-3135.
I am excited that she may be a pure bred after all. She has that really high pitch bark that drives me nuts but other than that she is full of love and affection. Her name is Dharma.
Thanks and hope to hear from you.

Hi Anita,
The pup shown in this photo is mine. She was imported from Croatia. Not all Karelians in the US are purebred (even thought they are registered and marketed as purebreds). The purebred dogs are registereds with United Kennel Club, Canadian Kennel Club and/or the AKC FSS. The mixed breeds (Russo-European Laika/Karelian Bear Dog) are registered with Universal Kennel Club International. Please feel free to email me and I will happily supply you with more info. You can also send me photos of your pup.
