It started out as an ordinary day. My spouse rode off on his motorcycle for work, heading for the ferry. Kid and I worked on breakfast. About an hour later, my spouse calls. I am not to worry, he says, but he is being driven to the hospital after being in a motorcycle accident. Not hit by cars, but by OTHER MOTORCYCLES. What the f@#$??? Since when are other motorcycles the thing you worry about? My spouse slowed down for a pedestrian, crossing in a crosswalk, and BAM! Got rear-ended by not one but two motorcycles. His leg crunched. Initially, he said, “Oh, it is swollen, but I don’t think it’s broken.”
Hours later: it is broken.
More hours later: good friends bring him home from the hospital.
I thought Kid was going to cry seeing daddy squirming around on crutches in the driveway, but she fought them off.
Now, daddy is living downstairs. I told Kid we need to take care of daddy like doctors and nurses. She said, “But I don’t want to be a doctor or nurse. I just want to be a plain kid.”
Yeah, don’t we all.
I guess in the big scheme of things, you are getting away lucky from a motorcycle crash with just a broken leg. But is the Bluetooth helmet OK, you want to know. Well…..we can only hope.
