greener living – in a tea cup

All this talk about peeing reminds me of something — tea! For years I was caffeine free, not counting chocolate (not one square, bar, truffle, cocoa or….) for health and crankiness reasons (Can you believe I used to be MORE cranky? Well, who’s asking you anyway, chump?). img_2352.jpgThen, the Kid. In crept a little green tea from time to time. With that jolt, I’d scrub the floor with a toothbrush. Towards the end of her napping career (;O), she started waking up earlier, so….more green tea. Now, no naps, and add to that, middle of the night bed-crashing. So, dawn breaks, and I am TIRED. I don’t need tons of sleep, not like some people I married, but ideally a good 8 1/2 hours has me waking with eyelids gliding easily up, rather than the eyeball scraping rough-housing we have now.

Anyway, I am ditching the herbal stuff and coasting through new green teas. Lately, honey ginseng from Celestial Seasonings and Stash chai. I am still hunting for that perfect green chai. I kinda dug that brown rice tea. Dawn liked that Yogi Kombucha, and I am leaning towards that as one of my faves. I’ve also added these cute little honey lemon bears I got for my DH from the knitting store (in a surprise move, the home roaster of coffee beans got some black teas). They don’t always melt totally, but they are cute and chewy. Kid likes to eat them straight like gummi bears. I also got DH some little shortbread cookies with ginger, and I like to dip those. All this reminds me, I should get DH more gifts.

  1. Have you tried Yogi Tea’s Sweet Thai Delight? It’s not Chai but along those lines. For some reason I haven’t gotten into the Chai that much. I’ve really got to get the one you recommended before and then LGM recommended as well.

Maybe its time to hit the old sleep book, what was it, Happy Sleep, Happy Child…?

  2. No! I’ll have to try that Yogi one. I did not even realize there were sayings on their tags until I read your post! Who looks?

Funny you should mention that book. I just got it back from out on loan and been reviewing my options once the naps disappeared. Part of my lack of sleep has been to put her back in her room in the middle of the night, rather than ignore her (as much as possible).
