Yep, snow day. Well, actually a late start, but those of us attending preschool (feels like I am!), get no school at all. As Lucy would cry: “But, Ricky!….Waaaaah!”
Weird experience this morning — the snow was so dry I could not get a decent snowball going to build a snowman (what is this powdery stuff??), at least not before my dog kept tackling me. She had the “zooms,” loving that we are outside and this white, fluffy stuff covers everything. I wonder if she remembers her puppyhood in Alaska. Note to file: do not start house training a puppy in the winter. Picture this: whiny puppy in crate, me putting on full winter suit, boots, hat, gloves to take puppy out on lease at 3am. Temperature: 15. (rare bonus: northern lights) At least she’d pee near the door, but the numero dos dooty required a small stroll up to the edge of the property, to a small, flat patch we liked to call “brown mountain.” To this day, whenever she walks on white, crunchy stuff, snow, rocks, styrofoam, whatever, she can’t help but remember those freezing nights, if you know what I mean.
I realize now that this dog training was a breeze compared to the potty training we are currently enduring IN the house….. Waaaaaah!
