Curb your competition

Sometimes, you just have to Let Go of things, of goals, of dreams, of hopes. Just to be happy in the moment. But disappointments are hard for me. I seem to find them everywhere….the movie based on the Firefly series, the season finale of Seinfeld, Duran Duran’s live performance, the poorly located rental house in Kauai, the shell in the crab cake while fine dining, the breaking of the best bowl I ever made in pottery class….. Before I must go change my wine glass to a double rocks tumbler, I’ll move on. The point, my lost point as DH likes to say, is Letting Go. Lately, the Universe has provided another chance for me to let go: my child may not be passing Kinder 1 swim class. Her first experience with a prerequisite and she is held back? We had such high hopes for her. Why? Because she won’t hold her head under water for a 5 count. A 5 count?? Why is this needed?? I want my kid kicking, blowing bubbles, yes, but holding her head under water on purpose?? This seems like teaching drowning not swimming. Don’t get me wrong. I like her teacher. She seems very conscientious, perhaps toooo conscientious. She does not even seem open to receiving gifts, large and profitable gifts, to encourage the graduation of Kid into Kinder 2. What is wrong with this country when you can’t bribe your swim teacher?

  • “Teaching drowning not swimming” - lol.

It was only about six years ago that it dawned on me that the special reading class I was put into in 3rd grade was not an advanced class ;)

I credit them with doing an excellent job of making me feel like I was in an advanced class (i.e., lying to me).

  • lol. This is too funny.
