Let the dog in!

Some days you just could not plan it better. Ignoring our discussion about why certain things were not getting a thorough cleaning (the reason being the Kid needs supervision or will defeat all your efforts at cleaning by making a worse mess in the other room while you are focused on your project), DH began his Herculean task of emptying out and cleaning the entire refrigerator. Stuff everywhere, dairy warming, leftovers left over, it is not the sort of project you can abandon easily. Me, I am afraid to make meatballs while she is awake for fear of having to grab things from her fast with raw-meat-contaminated hands….

It was fine while Kid napped. Then she woke up. Since we had just put up the xmas tree and began decorating it, there were boxes lying around with wrapping stuffs for the breakable ornaments, paper, bubble wrap, styrofoam peanuts, etc. (why do we have breakable ornaments at all?? actually, it seems that almost all ornaments are breakable in some fashion, I am being shown these past couple of years…..). So, DH is intense on his project, I on my laundry project, and from the living room, I hear “I’m all slippery and sliding, Mommy. Weeeeeeeeee. Hehehe.” Everywhere she moves, a trail of little white bits follows, around the room, down the hall.

OH? I come in to see an all white floor. Styrofoam peanuts everyone with Kid (clothes off) rolling around in them, crushing them into bits.

“I give you exhibit A, honey.” I leave the room. He does not understand and remains focused. Then, a beautiful thing happened. From the other room (for once, a small house pays off!) I hear DH lose it. He sees it. He says all the stuff I have said to her in the exact same situation, numerous times. All of it. It was the best xmas gift a mother could ever have.
