I have been thinking lately, mostly questions. Lots come up every day, repeatedly, like “what is that doing there?” “didn’t I just pick this up?” “what is that smell?” “what do we need that for?” and, now, with winter approaching, “have you seen my other slipper?”
In an effort to enhance my understanding, I decided to bring meditation back to my life, so my little one and I initiated “candle time.” Seemed like a promising idea. I set the timer for 5 minutes and lit a candle with the lights out. She and I sat at the table, and I told her she could watch the candle or close her eyes and imagine different things. Yes, seemed like a good idea, but it turns out a lit candle in front of a 3 yr old is akin to a dog biscuit sitting on a dog’s nose (or, more acurrately, a pan of gingerbread covered in foil vaguely close to the counter’s edge). She resisted for 4 minutes and then blew it out. She loves candle time. Daddy is to be invited for next time. More training may be in order.

Meditation? You’re moving to Fairfield then?
I need to stay posted on this one. Is it be possible for a three year old to hold still that long?
